CV tips

  1. KEEP IT SIMPLE
  • Your CV should be no more than two pages and keep it short and sweet. That means a small profile, no graphics or charts and no pictures of you posing please!

  1. BE DIFFERENT
  • There are a thousand CVs that say ‘good organisational skills’ but is your new employer aware of the international roadshow you organised that resulted in a deal? Duties are generic, achievements are unique.

  1. MAKE IT RELEVANT
  • Tailor your CV to the job you’re applying for. They want to see that you’ve done the job before but if you haven’t, they need to see transferable skills. So make it relevant.

  1. DON’T BE LAZY
  • One of clients’ top pet hates is grammatical errors and mistakes on dates or grades. Check, re-check and check again.

  1. MAKE IT SMART
  • Be consistent with your formatting, spacing and layout, use the same tenses, fonts and date style. Put your most recent job first, use bullet points wisely and always explain any gaps.
